Introduction

Nepal’s one of the renowned training centers, Kathmandu Training Centre (KTC) Affiliated with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has been providing its service for 12 years since the year 2002 in the field of social development. It was established with the aim of producing skillful human resource for the development of the country especially in the rural and underdeveloped communities. The institution believes in poverty reduction through social mobilization. Thus, the centre runs 15 months social mobilization (SM) training and various short term trainings such as Training of Trainers (TOT), leadership and facilitation skills, Advocacy Training, Monitoring and Evaluation Training, Leadership Development, gender and social inclusion are just a few to name.

Major objectives of KTC:

1. Conduct community development and social mobilization courses.

2. Conduct training and research in the field of community.

3. Support different organizations to enhance capacities in human resources in community  development.

4. Provide opportunities through trainings focusing on economically and socially deprived groups as well as people from remote areas.

5. Encourage the educated unemployed and underemployed people to develop their capacities through community development trainings and practices.

6. Establish network with national and international institutions working in community development and social mobilization field.
